Images can be shot in any format, using any camera model, on film or digital.
Each image can be a maximum of 10MB in size. All images must be submitted as JPEG files; no other file formats will be accepted.
Your submitted series must be a substantial body of work with a maximum of 15 images in your submission.There are no restrictions on when the submitted images were taken.
All relevant clearances and/or model releases must have been obtained for the use of the photographs for publication and exhibition.
The final submission deadline is 20 December 2018 4pm GMT and judging will take place shortly after this.
Text accompanying your images must be in English, and follow the character limits:
Project description (500 characters max)
Image title (200 characters max)
Image caption (500 characters max)
Artist’s statement, to include notes about how you envisage your exhibition (1000 characters max)
You will be asked to pay for your entry by Credit Card.
All payments are handled securely by our international payment partner Stripe. After payment, you will receive an email containing a personal upload URL where you may submit your images and statement.
All entry purchases are final. Having purchased an entry, it is your responsibility to upload and submit your images and statement before the deadline. No refunds will be issued.
Winners must be available to supply images promptly for exhibition printing, and be available for interview by telephone, email or in person. Digital files of the winning images will be created for press and publicity purposes.
Photographer’s will keep the rights to the image, and no copyright is transferred to the British Journal of Photography or award partners in respect of any works entered or accepted.
British Journal of Photography and award partners reserve the right to display, reproduce and publish in any media, any entry, without payment, for the sole purpose of the BJP International Photography Award and exhibition – this year and in future – and its promotion and publicity.
Each entrant will be deemed to warrant they own the entire copyright for the work or that they have permission from the licensee and/or copyright owner/s for the uses.
The winner must be available to discuss their exhibition installation with the gallery owner/director. Photographers may select exhibition print and install options that fit within our print partner’s sponsorship budget, or go over budget and supplement the difference.
If the winner lives outside of London and wishes to be present during the exhibition installation and exhibition opening night, British Journal of Photography will cover the cost of travel and accommodation for up to five nights. The winning photographer is responsible for securing relevant travel documents, including a valid passport and any necessary visas.
Photographers may keep the exhibited work after the exhibition, but must make arrangements for, and meet the costs of, collecting them.
British Journal of Photography cannot be responsible for any loss or damage to submitted work.
